chapel series - stained stone

The sunlight streaming through a stained glass window and landing on this interior wall framing, to me, looked like a "stained stone window".  The stained glass windows depict scenes from the life of king Louis IX (in the 13th century) who is  more commonly referred to as Saint Louis.  Also in the chapel is a very modest memorial to DaVinci around his final resting place.

  1. I wonder whether this trick of the light was originally meant...Did you note at what time it happens?
    Asusual, nice shot!

  2. I wonder the same thing since this wall motif really does resemble a window frame. The photo was taken at 11am. The so called "solar noon" (midway between sunrise and sunset) was at 1pm that day. I think it would be difficult to say whether the timing of it was planned.

Thanks for your comment Anne !

  3. Je trouve très intéressant ces tâches de couleurs sur les murs des chapelles ! Selon l'inclinaison du soleil, tu peux photographier le carrelage et avoir différentes textures colorées.

  4. Je suis d'accord, Michèle. Les anciens architectes étaient très créatifs.
